It is a simple and efficient application to make 3D designs for architectural environments, civil engineering, industrial design, stage design, GIS, video games or movies. This is a program developed by Last Software. The popularity of the program began when it was in version 5, it was then when it was purchased by Google offering a free version and another payment. Finally, the company was sold to Trimble in 2012.

What makes the sketchup stand out from other programs is its simplicity of interface and the ease of other companies to expand the source code of the program through the Ruby language making this a program accessible to many and at the same time with a large number of options to generate photorealistic images and free forms that would normally be out of reach for many profesional or students without having knowledge of parametric or more robust programs such as Autodesk 3Ds Max, Maya Autodesk, CinemaD, Blender, etc.

Layout

The layout tool is one of the features available only for SketchUp and allows the integration of a model with the images within the layout in the form of viewports as the Autodesk Autocad or Revit program would do.
